The UAE's Ministry of Interior urged residents on Saturday, October 31, to stay away from valleys, flood channels and areas where water accumulates, after heavy rain and hail struck parts of the country. The National Centre of Meteorology reported hail in Al Madam, Sharjah, while rainfall hit Masafi and Dafta in Fujairah as well as the Khor Fakkan Road. Forecasters expect fair to partly cloudy skies over eastern and northern regions, though convective clouds could bring further rain in the coming hours.
Abu Dhabi's Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre joined the ministry in advising drivers to slow down and avoid crossing flowing floodwaters or pooled water on roads. Wind speeds of 15 to 25 km/h were recorded, gusting to 45 km/h near storm clouds. Temperatures reached 36°C in Abu Dhabi, 35°C in Dubai and Sharjah, 31°C in Fujairah and as high as 39°C in Ruwais and Al Sila, with humidity climbing to 90 percent in Fujairah.
Authorities are particularly concerned about wadis overflowing and flash floods forming in the eastern and northern emirates, and have asked motorists to take extra care on mountain roads and in low-lying areas prone to water buildup. The advisory comes amid a stretch of unsettled weather across the UAE in recent weeks, marked by scattered showers and rising humidity.
