Etihad Rail has announced a temporary nightly closure on a stretch of Emirates Road (E611) between Dubai and Sharjah, running from Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 15. The closure applies daily between 1am and 5am and is linked to ongoing infrastructure works on the UAE's national rail network.

In a statement posted on social media, the rail operator said crews need the overnight window to install rail equipment and carry out safety works along the corridor that runs near or beneath this section of Emirates Road. The project is part of the wider expansion of the national passenger rail network, which is planned to eventually connect Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid and Fujairah.

During the closure hours, traffic on the affected stretch will be diverted onto alternative routes, and temporary signage has been placed along the corridor to guide drivers. Motorists who typically travel between Dubai and Sharjah at night are advised to plan ahead and use parallel highways or secondary roads during the 1am-5am window to avoid getting caught in diversion traffic.

This is one of several short-term closures Etihad Rail has carried out on different stretches of the country's road network in recent months as construction progresses. The company says Emirates Road is expected to reopen fully overnight once this phase of work is completed on November 15.
